UgandaWidening the Scope of ITFrom 2003 to 2004, an International UN Volunteer (IUNV) from the U.S.A. helped fifteen universities, technical colleges and secondary schools to benefit from the Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP). The program’s rapid growth prompted him to design and implement a job placement strategy for 800 students and graduates. The IUNV built partnerships with the private sector, government and civil society to provide work-site tours, information sessions and internships as well as job postings and resume referrals. Overall, the program has made a significant contribution, especially in the war-torn area of Northern Uganda where over thirty students now have the same educational opportunities as students in the developed world.
