Promoting IT and the Internet
From May 2003 to May 2004, a National UN Volunteer (NUNV) served under the Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP), a comprehensive, e-learning program, which provides students with the Internet technology skills essential in a global economy. The Networking Academy Program delivers web-based content, on-line assessment, student performance tracking, hands-on labs, instructor training and support, and preparation for industry-standard certifications. This NUNV, together with about 30 local colleagues, trained students of all backgrounds. The team focused on gender-related activities and successfully promoted e-learning. The Volunteer was able to promote computer science technologies and deploy Cisco Regional Academies, creating widespread accessibility to the Internet. As part of his UNV assignment he received training to become a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
