Supporting Decentralization Efforts
From 2003 to 2005, an International UN Volunteer (IUNV) from Nigeria supported Mali’s decentralization efforts regarding capacity building in ICT. He sensitized people to the possibilities created by ICT, developed data-processing software and trained in the use of data-processing tools. Furthermore, he set up Internet connections and developed websites for the town halls of Tombouctou and Mopti. He also installed a portal for local e-governance and supported the introduction of ICT in schools.
