Recruiting Academies and Raising Standards
A National UN Volunteer (NUNV) worked with the Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP) in Kenya from July 2003 to June 2004. He was instrumental in recruiting Local Academies, raising the country’s number from four to fourteen. He introduced new programs to the Academies and helped them find support for low-income applicants. He further worked to reduce Academy dropout rates and increase sustainability. With his help, Kenya was voted as having the best-run Academies in Africa last year, as well as the highest number of women enrolled in the program.
