Recruiting Local Academies
From September 2003 to September 2004, a National UN Volunteer (NUNV)
helped implement the Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP) in Indonesia.
The NUNV recruited twenty “Local Academies”. In addition
to their own curricula, the Academies adopt the Cisco curricula which
include a high standard of IT and internet networking training. This
especially benefits students living in remote areas who have no direct
access to similar up-to-date IT curricula. The chalkboard is replaced
by a computer and students learn advanced technologies as well as English
language course material. The NUNV also supported efforts to involve
female students in the Cisco partnership with the Ministry of Research
and Technology.
