Bringing IT Education to Rural Thailand
From July 2003 to May 2004, a National UN Volunteer (NUNV) helped expand networking curriculums to rural parts of Thailand for one year by way of the Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP). The NUNV passed the Cisco Networking Academy Program training and then extended this opportunity to others. He assisted in establishing Academies and, by partnering with the government, offered cheap PC and Internet access to local residents. He also collaborated with donor organizations such as USAID, UNIFEM and Peace Corps to bring the Cisco curriculum to both female and rural learners.

Website Maintenance
From 7 to 23 August, 2003, an International UN Volunteer (IUNV) from the organization Seniores Italia, on a short-term assignment with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), was involved in maintaining a website that serves as a "one-stop" location for all relevant regional drug control information. Serving under UNV’s Corporate Sector Program, the IUNV supported the establishment of a regional drugs information database, which is now available on the website. The project aims to improve regional operational coordination on drug control issues among ASEAN countries and China by establishing a regional drugs information database into which participating countries and organizations feed information. The IUNV provided a "professional eye," reviewing the current site with the project team, making recommendations as to how to improve it and initiating the required changes.
