Egypt

One of the first ICT volunteering projects affiliated with UNITeS was Technology Access Community Center (TACC) Luxor, on the West Bank in Luxor. The National UN Volunteer devoted his time to a mix of program, technical, promotional and management tasks. He:

  • assisted members of the community using the center's resources;
  • assisted in training activities for center users;
  • collected and distributed information regarding of the center, its activities, its accomplishments and its needs
  • developed strategies to advance the purpose of the center and its activities;
  • assisted in the promotions of the center and its activities and accomplishments;
  • maintained and updated the Center's web site, computer equipment and all accessories,
  • administered and maintained LAN user accounts, e-mail accounts, groups and distribution lists;
  • performed daily backup procedures and maintained virus defense systems;
  • maintained the inventory of the office equipment and advised the center's supervisor on replacement of outdated/broken equipment
