BangladeshEncouraging Networking AcademiesAn International UN Volunteer (IUNV) from India served in Bangladesh from March 2002 to February 2003. He played an important roll in identifying strategic universities and institutions in Bangladesh and enrolling them in the Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP). The Volunteer motivated eight universities and institutions throughout Bangladesh to register as Local Academies which then adopted Network Academy Programmes into their curricula. Through his persuasion, the Academies raised training capacity to fifty instructors and about 1,200 students per year, including a targeted minimum of thirty percent female students. To encourage female attendance, the Academies agreed to establish separate admission tests and selection processes for women, as well as offer them concessions of up to forty percent in tuition fees.
